MADEX is a biological insecticide containing the Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV) at a concentration of 3x10¹³ viruses per litre.

MADEX is a biological insecticide containing CpGV which is a natural occurring pathogen of the codling moth.

The formulation only contains organic additives, therefore the application of MADEX produces no chemical residues in the food chain and can be used in organic farming. The codling moth, Cydia pomonella, is the most destructive pest in apple and pear production world wide.  The damage is caused by the larvae entering the fruit and penetrating to the core.

MADEX can be stored at 5°C for 2 years without loss of efficacy. If it is stored at lower temperatures, such as -15°C, storage is even prolonged without loss efficacy of the product.

Effect mechanism:
The codling moth granulose virus works exclusively over the digesting organs of the larvae of the codling moth and has no contact action. Hence Madex 3 must be eaten by the larvae of the codling moth. The infected larvae stop eating after the intake of the virus and do not cause any more damage. Depending upon the virus amount intake the larvae die within few days or in the course of their further development.

Madex 3 is mixable with fungicides and insecticides. Strongly sour or alkaline as well as cupreous preparations are excluded.
